CGI-CBC Research Support Update

Dear Colleagues,

In accordance with the University’s policy on research activity (https://uconn.edu/public-notification/coronavirus/covid-19-research/) the Computational Biology core (CBC) and Center for Genome Innovation (CGI) have made changes in their operations that are detailed below:

Computational Biology Core (CBC):

  • All the face-to-face meetings are replaced by virtual meetings (Webex and Zoom).  To schedule a meeting please email cbcsupport@uconn.edu .
  • We continue to support HPC access, software installs, consultations, data analysis, budget preparation, and letters of support.  We encourage you to get in touch with your data analytic or related needs at the cbcsupport email address (above).
  • The Slack channel is a great place to obtain quick advice or troubleshoot a run – join at uconn-cbc.slack.com
  • Please note that usage of our services and especially the HPC cluster (Xanadu) have increased and our response time may be impacted.

Center for Genome Innovation (CGI) and Chromosome Core:

  • The Center for Genome Innovation’s on-site laboratory activities (as of Monday March 23rd) remains at 0%.  While we are not currently staffing the lab, we are still available to provide support in a variety of ways:
    • Email/phone consultations
    • Budget preparation
    • Support letters
    • Manuscript preparation
  • Projects that could not be completed have samples properly stored.  Once we are able to safely return to the lab, we will bring sequencers and other instrumentation back online.  Projects remaining in the queue prior to shut-down will be completed first with highest priority.
  • If you are planning to submit new samples once your labs are up and running again, please let me know.  We already have a list of several projects to be added to the queue.  We want to ensure that we have necessary reagents and kits ordered and delivered to the lab ready to go when we are!

We will keep you updated as and when circumstances changes .

– CGI & CBC Team
